Adriaan's Fundraiser

My name is Adriaan Kruger from Phalaborwa, Limpopo South Africa

I created this page because it is the only way I could think of how to raise funds to acquire a new wheelchair friendly Vehicle with an Under Vehicle wheelchair lift.

My current vehicle which I use every day to get to work is very unreliable and can not take a chance to travel very far with it anymore.

I am a quadriplegic with a C5/C6 neck injury looking to raise funds for a new Wheelchair Accessable Vehicle with a Braun Under Vehicle Wheelchair lift. I am tall and find that a Volkswagen Transporter Crewbus is most suitable for my needs. Only problem is these Volkswagens became unaffordable which forces me to ask someone to help me with a fundraiser to reach my goal. I work as a Switchboard Controller at a mining company called Foskor in Phalaborwa South Africa.

My current vehicle is a 2011 VW Transporter Crewbus with almost 190000km on the clock. I had some very bad experiences with my current kombi the last few year and it is putting me further and further into dept. It even left us stranded more than 600km from home when we came back from vacation with a broken clutch and pressure plate. I was never so stressed in my life being stranded on those busy roads in KZN and is scared to travel far with it again. I can’t see how I can keep on fixing new problems each time as they arise. A new vehicle will definitely help me to have a more reliable vehicle than my current vehicle and enjoy a worry free life.

A few years ago my VW Transporter's engine blew it's headgasket and when we found a mechanic to fix it the mechanic scammed us, he took our money and disappeared after he opened the engine. If it was not for a family member who offered to fix our Transporter I would not of been able to go to work again.

The Chris Burger/Petro Jackson Players Fund helped me a lot since my Sports Accident, 34 years ago on the Rugby Field of our local High School, with wheelchairs and assistive devices which I am very grateful for. It does feel as if I am asking for too much but I do not have a choice. My father, who is taking me to work and who has been taking me to work since I started to work at Foskor in 2012, is now 80 years old and lost his right leg recently. Now I need an Automatic Transpoter so that he can start taking me to work again. We also can’t be struggling with an unreliable kombi at his age. He also had triple bypass heart operation a few years ago. Last thing we need is to break down again when we travel far.

I hope you can find a way to help me, I know it is a lot to ask for but believe it is not an impossible request.

It is very important to me to live independent and not be stuck in a house with other disabled people with no ambition in life at all. Your help to reach my goal and stay independent will greatly be appreciated.
